Numerous popular PC and console franchises have ventured into the mobile gaming arena, although achieving similar levels of success has proven elusive for many. Ubisoft, a prominent player in the gaming industry, is now bringing some of its most iconic series to mobile platforms, with titles such as Rainbow Six and Assassin’s Creed making their way to handheld devices.
While Assassin’s Creed Jade remains in closed beta testing, Rainbow Six Mobile appears to be closer to an official release. As reported by Reddit users (via MobileSyrup), Rainbow Six Mobile is currently accessible for play in a single country: Canada. This aligns with the industry trend of "soft launches," where games are initially released in a limited number of countries before their global rollout.
Ubisoft officially announced Rainbow Six Mobile in April 2022, promising a "tactile, competitive, and multiplayer first-person shooter experience on your mobile device." The most recent Rainbow Six Mobile closed beta occurred in early June and was available to fans in numerous countries, including Canada, Brazil, Singapore, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, and others.
Rainbow Six Mobile will adopt a free-to-play model on both Android and iOS platforms, featuring in-app purchases akin to its PC counterpart, where players can purchase packs of platinum currency.
According to Ubisoft's roadmap, Rainbow Six Mobile is set to launch shortly after the conclusion of its soft-launch phase. During this period, the game is expected to receive a ranked mode, additional maps, mini-seasons, enhanced onboarding processes, and event-based game modes.
The final version of the game will introduce controller support, match reconnection features, full seasons, and one or more additional operators. Barring any major setbacks during the ongoing soft-launch phase, it appears that Rainbow Six enthusiasts can anticipate enjoying their favorite game on mobile devices by the end of the year.
