Bungie's accidental upload of a fresh trailer for Destiny 2: The Final Shape has shed light on the eerie ambiance of The Pale Heart. After numerous rumors and speculations, Bungie unveiled The Final Shape during its August showcase event. Positioned as the culmination of the Light and Darkness narrative arc in Destiny 2, this expansion disclosed a wealth of new details, including three new light-based supers, exotic weaponry, and much more.
As anticipated, the expansion will emphasize the campaign, compelling players to confront the looming threat of The Witness before it's too late. In doing so, they will venture into a novel location within the Traveler, named The Pale Heart. Apart from addressing long-standing questions in the Destiny series, The Pale Heart stands out for its distorted and altered versions of familiar places, even resurrecting the original Destiny tower. The leaked trailer provides a tantalizing glimpse of the secrets and captivating sights that await players in The Pale Heart.
The recent Destiny 2 leak was brought to attention by a user named CourtSoul, who shared the short trailer. The footage showcases The Pale Heart destination within the Traveler, a place that morphs and adapts according to the player's legacy. Notably, the trailer features nods to familiar locales, such as the iconic rounded tree, The Cradle, from Season of Arrivals, a colossal stone Ghost seemingly etched into the mountainside, and a statue bearing a striking resemblance to Saint-14. This statue possibly commemorates the player's journey in liberating the legendary Titan, Saint-14, by navigating through time during Season of Dawn.
Curiously, CourtSoul suggests that the trailer was leaked internally by Bungie, accidentally surfacing prematurely. While the video was quickly set to private a few minutes after its inadvertent release, it remained accessible long enough for fans to view and share it. It's entirely plausible that Bungie had intended to officially launch this trailer soon, and its inadvertent release may prompt an even earlier official release. Nevertheless, Destiny 2 enthusiasts have eagerly analyzed the latest revelations from The Pale Heart.
Regardless of the circumstances, The Pale Heart will follow in the footsteps of other Destiny 2 destinations like The Dreaming City, evolving once the campaign concludes. During the showcase, Design Lead Matt McConnell hinted that the location will "open up," offering players additional activities to explore once they thwart The Witness and unravel its plot.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series x/s.
