The former narrative protagonist of Ubisoft's Far Cry franchise announces his promotion to IP Director and promises big things for the future of this shooter franchise.

After a period of relative silence on the future of the series following the mixed reception of 2021's Far Cry 6, it was announced that Drew Holmes, the series' former narrator, will be taking over the Intellectual Property leadership at Far Cry. at Ubisoft. No new information about the next installment in the series was provided as part of the announcement, which could lend credibility to a leak from earlier in the year, suggesting players may have to wait a bit before releasing the upcoming Far.
  Cry game.

Former Narrator Drew Holmes is now Ubisoft's Director of Intellectual Property for Far Cry, hinting at possible changes in the future of the series.

Ubisoft's open-global franchise entered the first-individual shooter scene in March 2004 with the discharge of the original Far Cry game and has undergone significant changes over the years. While largely retaining the core gameplay loop of the first title, which pits players against enemy forces in a vast open environment, later parts of the series have placed more emphasis on the story. Despite player praise over the years for
's entertaining and increasingly over-the-top antagonists, many recent Far Cry games have been plagued with complaints of repetitive gameplay and occasionally frustrating gameplay mechanics.

The announcement didn't include any new information about the next Far Cry game, possibly confirming previous leaks that indicated a longer wait for the release.

As first reported by VGC, veteran series writer Drew Holmes has accepted a new position at Ubisoft as Director of Intellectual Property for the Far Cry series. News of Holmes' promotion first surfaced on his LinkedIn page, where the series' former main narrator wrote that he's excited to be taking on the role of lead development for 5, the fan-favorite
  series.

Drew Holmes brings extensive storytelling experience, having worked on Far Cry: New Dawn and Far Cry 5, as well as acclaimed games like BioShock Infinite.

News of Holmes' new position comes just days after Ubisoft Toronto hinted at a new Far Cry game by tweeting a recruitment post seeking candidates for the Far Cry team's many top positions. Holmes brings extensive storytelling experience to his role as Director of Intellectual Property, extending beyond just work on the Far Cry series, including serving as lead writer on Irrational Games' acclaimed BioShock Infinite before joining Ubisoft. This could be heartwarming news for
gamers who felt let down by what some saw as a disappointment in 2021's Far Cry 6 story. This action could bode well for the future of the series. And while it'll be a while before players figure out exactly what Holmes is up to with Ubisoft's popular shooter franchise, it could be a great thing for the franchise to have someone with his experience overseeing the Far Cry franchise.
A new Far Cry game is reportedly in the works.
