Twitter limits the number of tweets different accounts can read per day, owner Elon Musk said, to prevent "extreme levels" of data collection and system manipulation. The restrictions announced on Friday went into effect early Saturday and at times resulted in more than 7,500 people reporting problems using the social network, according to Downdetector, an online outage monitoring website. Although it affected a relatively small number of more than 200 million Twitter users worldwide, the problem was widespread enough that the hashtag #TwitterDown became popular in some parts of the world.
