New Voice Actor for Mario Possibly Revealed in Super Mario Bros. Wonder Demo Datamine

In a surprising turn of events, it appears that the new voice behind Mario may have been uncovered, thanks to an alleged datamine of a demo for Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

UPDATE: ACTOR DENIES HE’S VOICING MARIO

Rumors first started circulating when an unverified list of voice actors for Wonder surfaced on the 4chan forum, gaining rapid traction across various social media platforms and forums like Resetera.

The origins of this list can be traced back to an anonymous user who claimed to have acquired the kiosk demo for Mario Wonder, which had been recently introduced in US retailers. This user reportedly made modifications to access content that was not intended for the public eye, subsequently sharing images on 4chan (some of which have been mirrored on Twitter) showcasing previously unseen Wonder levels to substantiate their assertions.

It is worth noting that while Nintendo had announced earlier in the year that Charles Martinet, the iconic voice of Mario for over two and a half decades, would be stepping down from the role, an official replacement had yet to be revealed.

The alleged voice actor list, although tantalizing, still requires a degree of scrutiny since it lacks credited characters. As astutely pointed out by MondoMega, a user on Famiboards, assuming that no female, foreign language, or returning voice cast members have assumed the role, two names emerge as potential contenders.

With Los Angeles-based Kevin Afghani's striking vocal similarity to Mario Wonder's talking flowers, attention has focused on one candidate within the supposedly leaked list - veteran cartoon and video game voice actor Mick Wingert.

Mick Wingert is renowned for lending his voice to Tony Stark in various Marvel animated series and Zeng in the Kung Fu Panda spin-off. His work extends to video games like Genshin Impact, Spider-Man, World of Warcraft, and Fire Emblem Heroes.

Should the list prove accurate and comprehensive, it also hints at a possible recasting of Deanna Mustard, a longstanding Mario voice actor, as Daisy. Meanwhile, Samantha Kelly, known for voicing Peach, Toad, and Toadette in previous Mario games, as well as Kenny James as the voice of Bowser, and Caety Sagoian as Bowser Jr., might be making their triumphant return.

In a recent video released by Nintendo, Charles Martinet and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto discussed Martinet's new role as the 'Mario Ambassador.' Martinet expressed his excitement about traveling worldwide, sharing the Mario family's joy, and connecting with fans around the globe, making it clear that he holds his fans in the highest regard and looks forward to meeting them at events worldwide in the coming years.
