Xbox Game Pass subscribers can anticipate an exciting lineup of new games in the near future. Among the forthcoming additions to the subscription service are "Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name" and "Like a Dragon: Ishin," along with several other exciting titles. The good news for fans of "Like a Dragon Gaiden" is that this interquel will be available on Game Pass as a day-one release when it debuts on November 9, as announced by Xbox at the Tokyo Game Show.
"Like a Dragon Gaiden" unfolds its storyline after the events of "Yakuza 6: The Song of Life" and during "Yakuza: Like a Dragon." It places the spotlight on Kazuma Kiryu, the iconic Yakuza figure who faked his own death to safeguard his family. Operating under the alias Joryu, Kiryu gets entangled in a fresh conspiracy that jeopardizes his secret and the safety of his loved ones. Positioned as a shorter adventure within the "Like a Dragon" franchise, the game also serves as a prelude to "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth," scheduled for release in January 2024. Completing "Like a Dragon Gaiden" will grant access to exclusive scenes that won't be available in the latter game.
In contrast, "Like a Dragon: Ishin" made its debut earlier this year, finally making an improbable port to Western audiences across various platforms. Diverging from the modern settings of the Yakuza series, "Ishin" immerses players in a samurai epic as they wield the sword of Sakamoto Ryoma, explore feudal Japan, and unveil the truth behind his father's murder. While there is no exact release date specified, Xbox has confirmed that "Like a Dragon: Ishin" will be accessible on Game Pass later this year.
For gamers seeking a distinct Japanese experience, Game Pass subscribers can also anticipate the arrival of the original "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy" on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass starting September 26. Looking ahead to 2024, the franchise will expand with "Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy" for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
These additions join the ranks of previously announced titles destined for Xbox Game Pass. "Mineko's Night Market" will be available on October 26, followed by "Persona 5 Tactica" on November 17, and "Persona 3 Reload" on February 2, 2024, all as day-one releases. In the immediate future, the Game Pass library will welcome four new day-one releases in the latter half of September, although it will also bid farewell to seven games during the same month.
During the Xbox Tokyo Game Show panel, additional exciting announcements were made. These included the confirmation of "Octopath Traveler II" arriving on Xbox platforms in early 2024, the revelation of the 2.5D "slasher film parodic action" game "Hotel Barcelona" from Swery65 and Suda51, and a first look at the action-adventure title "Altheia: The Wrath of Aferi."
