In our exclusive Marvel's Spider-Man 2 preview, GamesRadar+ had a conversation with Insomniac's senior art director, Jacinda Chew, shedding light on this unique gameplay feature. Chew explained that players can freely alternate between Miles and Peter in the open-world environment, but when you do, they will perpetually don their superhero attire. This means you won't catch them casually strolling the streets as ordinary New Yorkers; they're always geared up and ready for action.
A recent revelation clarified that if you're controlling one character, you'll still catch glimpses of your ally swinging through the cityscape. Chew's insights provide a clearer picture of how the dynamic duo of Miles and Peter will function within Insomniac's expansive open world.
However, despite their appearances in the open world, your ally won't actively assist you in combat or other activities. For instance, if you're playing as Miles Morales, you won't witness an AI-controlled Peter Parker swooping in to aid you in taking down adversaries. Instead, your companion serves as atmospheric immersion for your solo adventures.
