Popucom is an adventure platform game that demands cooperation between you and your gaming partner to solve puzzles and progress through the narrative. The majority of these puzzles are built around color block mechanics, requiring you to strategically combine them for destruction. This applies not only to the adversaries you encounter but also to the environment itself. It's a game that will test your ingenuity and skill in diverse situations. However, Popucom isn't just about gameplay; it also offers an engaging storyline to uncover as you venture through its levels. The studio has thoughtfully provided a synopsis:
"In the world of POPUCOM, humanity has stumbled upon a new semiconductor ore. A malevolent corporation quickly monopolized it and harnessed incredible power. Yet, excessive industrial production has generated copious amounts of toxic waste, spawning mutated life forms known as 'Pomu.' [...] Young and talented children were then dispatched to the planet abandoned by humanity, where our young heroes are entrusted with the mission to defeat the Pomu and save the world.”
Intriguingly, Popucom supports more than just two players. You can enjoy it on the same device or connect remotely through an online mode that accommodates up to four players. Multiple characters are available to ensure everyone can join in the fun. While no official release date has been revealed yet, gamers are eagerly awaiting its arrival. Additionally, for those fortunate enough to attend the Tokyo Game Show, Popucom will be playable for the first time during the event, which runs from September 21 to 24.
