Bungie has announced significant sandbox changes set to roll out in Destiny 2 Seasons 22 and 23. Although Season 22 won't bring many alterations, Season 23 promises a major overhaul essential for overall gear balance in the game. These sandbox modifications will also extend their impact to the PvE segment.
The continuing updates to Destiny 2's sandbox are crucial, as they not only allow players to explore new playstyles and weapon choices but also emphasize the introduction of fresh weapon rolls that directly impact weapon effectiveness and efficiency.
Here's an overview of all the upcoming changes slated for Destiny 2's sandbox in Seasons 22 and 23, as outlined in the This Week At Bungie (TWAB) blog post:
Season 22 Changes:
Antaeus Wards: To reflect incoming damage with your shields, your class ability must be fully charged. Reflecting damage will deplete your class ability energy, making it challenging to stack with the Juggernaut shield.
Young Ahamkara's Spine: This Exotic will now grant grenade energy on final blows instead of just damage dealt.
Coming in Season 23:
Submachine Guns: Submachine Guns will exhibit higher recoil in Season 23, requiring players to invest in stability rather than range to mitigate recoil.
Sniper Rifles: Sniper Rifle body shots in the Crucible will be nerfed but will receive a substantial buff in PvE activities.
Fusion Rifles: The damage bonus from the Kickstart buff will be reduced, and damage will drop off more significantly at longer distances.
Airborne Effectiveness: The effectiveness of Snipers and Slug Shotguns when airborne will be increased.
Peregrine Greaves: In the Crucible, Peregrine Greaves will grant bonus shoulder charge damage to players who are visibly airborne for a short duration. In PvE, this bonus damage will apply to Tormentors, Champions, and Mini-bosses.
Synthoceps: Synthoceps will lose their additional lunge range but will gain bonus weapon handling and reload speed when surrounded by enemies in Destiny 2. Glaive melee damage output will also receive a moderate buff.
While the changes for Season 23 are expected to launch with the season, the timing for Season 22 updates remains clear. These modifications are aligned with the update scheduled for September 19, following their recent announcement.
