The Daymare Invader series is suited to third-person shooters with terrifying electric zombies and I was hooked. The second game, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, is out today. You play as Delilah Reyes, special agent of the Advanced Hexacore Research and Mining Division, also known as H.A.D.IT. and - wait a minute, I know this mood! That boring abbreviation? Mortar flushed onto concrete? Glamorous puzzle with ice and scanner mode? Not-so-subtle shades of Monolith and Midway? Shapes with large glowing devices on their backs following them through dimly lit warehouses?

If you look at the '90s as a whole, it feels like a homage to the shooters of the early and mid '90s, when every action game was set in an office building, prison, or garage and had some sort of paranormal side ability , and there was also film chromosomes in the matrix. Relieve this trailer.
A frantic search of the RPS archives reveals that Sin brought back the first game Daymare: 1998 (yes, it's a prequel) in 2019 and found it "a bit complicated". but all in all it was a good time. Daymare: 1998 started out as a fan remake of Resident Evil 2, but apparently Capcom had other ideas. I haven't had a chance to play Sandcastle, but it feels like a sidekick special ops mixer of sorts, with a certain focused sense of top-notch ingenuity. Trepang2 stole the show from Daymare a bit. A Steam demo is available if interested. I have a favorite theory that retro game development is entering the "post-boom shooter" era. The 90's are over, the 90's are here. Unreal Engine 3 instead of id Tech 1. Bullettime instead of rocket jump. Big beat instead of heavy metal. Tactical shotguns instead of sawed-off shotguns. What slogan do we give to this absolutely elegant and cool customer? Here is music to help you think.
