SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) Studio unveiled the captivating opening cinematic for "Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name" (Ryū Ga Gotoku 7 Gaiden - Na wo Keshita Otoko) during their RGG Direct live stream on Wednesday. This video introduces viewers to the game's enthralling opening theme song, "Katatoki" (Moment), performed by Yōjirō Noda, the frontman of RADWIMPS, and American rapper J.I.D.
The narrative of "Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name" revolves around Kazuma Kiryu, who now goes by the alias "Joryu." Once a renowned yakuza figure, Kiryu chose to fake his own demise and relinquish his identity to protect his loved ones. However, his peaceful anonymity is disrupted when an enigmatic individual emerges, attempting to flush him out of hiding. The game's gripping sub-missions lead players on a thrilling journey, with the story unfolding as they explore the vibrant settings of Sotenbori and Yokohama.
Excitement is building for the global release of the game, set to launch on November 9 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
Kazuma Kiryu, a former yakuza member, served as the central character in the initial six Yakuza mainline games and the Yakuza 0 prequel. In contrast, "Yakuza: Like A Dragon," titled "Ryū ga Gotoku 7: Hikari to Yami no Yukue" (Yakuza 7: The Direction of Light and Dark) in Japan, introduced Ichiban Kasuga as the protagonist. Initially released for the PS4 in Japan in January 2020, the game made its Western debut on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Windows 10, and PC via Steam in November 2020.
Additionally, "Like a Dragon: Ishin!" (Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! Kiwami), a revamped version of the Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin! game originally for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, launched on February 21 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows, and PC via Steam.
