| Acquiring Top Equipment in World of Warcraft's Great Vault Could Pose Challenges During Dragonflight Season 3 |
The Great Vault in World of Warcraft has long been a reliable source for acquiring high-quality gear, particularly during the early stages of a season. However, in Dragonflight Season Three, the assurance of securing excellent equipment in your vault is set to become a more challenging endeavor.
In the current setup, obtaining gear on the Myth upgrade track necessitates completing Mythic+ dungeons at keystone level 16. Season Three is poised to shake things up, with Mythic gear slated to become a reward in the Great Vault exclusively for players who conquer dungeons at level 18 or higher, as per information uncovered through data mining by the WoW coverage site, Wowhead.
During Season Three, every Mythic+ dungeon ranging from level seven to 17 will grant gear on the Hero track at the week's conclusion. It is only by surmounting Mythic+ dungeons at keystone levels 18 and beyond that players will be eligible for Great Vault gear on the Myth track.
While this alteration might disappoint players who relish the swift accumulation of gear during the early season, it holds the potential to establish a more balanced gear progression in Season Three. In the present season, players quickly upgraded most of their gear to near-ceiling item levels within the initial three to four resets. With the increased hurdle for obtaining top-tier gear, it's probable that the average Mythic+ player won't possess fully equipped Myth gear until the eighth or ninth week of the season.
Furthermore, Wowhead reports that the maximum item level for Great Vault gear will be capped at 483. This gear will be categorized as "Myth 2/4" for upgrade purposes, indicating that the expected highest item level in the game for the upcoming season will reach 489 once this gear is fully enhanced with Shadowflame Crests.
It's important to note that all this information is subject to potential changes before the launch of Dragonflight Season Three, anticipated later this year. While Patch 10.2 lacks an official release date at present, players can anticipate its arrival before the conclusion of 2023.
