The Google TV and Finance Watchlist widgets, initially introduced for Android tablets back in June, have now made their way to a broader range of smartphones.

The Google TV widget resembles an app, featuring a top bar that provides quick access to open the app, initiate a search, or use the remote control function. Below this, you'll find a feed of movie and television recommendations, complete with cover images displaying the titles and information about availability.

When you tap on a recommendation, it opens the respective show or film page, presenting you with 10 additional suggestions. This widget can occupy your entire homescreen, utilizing a 2×5 grid layout for optimal display.

If you can't find the widget on your phone, a workaround is to force stop the Google TV app version 4.39.1090.x from the App info settings.

Additionally, the Finance Watchlist, which initially made its debut on tablets, is now accessible on smaller devices through the latest beta release (version 14.37). Integrated into the Google app, this feature syncs stocks with Search and google.com/finance. The top of the list showcases the “Featured investment,” accompanied by a detailed chart. Users have the flexibility to manually select any stock, index, or cryptocurrency or allow the “Top mover” feature to automatically highlight the biggest gain or loss.

The widget also offers sorting options, allowing you to arrange items by Name, Symbol, or Day % change, and alphabetically in ascending or descending order. To access these settings, simply long-press on the widget and tap the pencil icon in the bottom-right corner. Moreover, the widget's versatility is evident as it is compatible with the cover display of the Z Flip 5, with Samsung actively promoting its use.

The wider availability of the Google TV and Finance Watchlist widgets complements recent Material You updates for other Google News, Calendar, and At a Glance homescreen objects.
