ABT Sportsline has unveiled the RS6 and RS7 Legacy Edition models, boasting an impressive power output of up to 986 horsepower (1,000 metric hp) and a staggering 848 pound-feet (1,150 Newton-meters) of torque. This formidable performance package comes at a price tag of approximately $218,999 (or 205,000 euros), inclusive of installation. It's worth noting that customers are required to provide their own vehicles for these high-performance modifications.

To harness the full power of these beasts, the RS6 and RS7 Legacy Edition models necessitate the use of 102-octane fuel. Running on 98-octane gasoline, their output is slightly reduced to 927 hp (940 metric hp) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque.

ABT Sportsline undertakes a comprehensive engine overhaul to achieve this power upgrade. This includes the installation of forged pistons, reinforced connecting rods, and upgraded piston pins. The vehicles also receive a carbon-fiber intake system with revised turbochargers featuring larger air intakes. Additional enhancements include the incorporation of supplementary oil coolers and optimized intercoolers.

One of the standout features is the introduction of an indirect water/ethanol-injection (IWI) system, operated by an electronic control unit. Thomas Biermaier, Managing Director of ABT Sportsline, explains, "This allows more charge air or oxygen to be supplied for the combustion of the fuel, resulting in permanently higher performance."

For the IWI system, ABT installs a 3.963-gallon (15-liter) tank in the rear cargo area to store the water and ethanol mixture, with the filler conveniently located beside the gas cap. ABT estimates that drivers can cover an impressive 1,864 miles (3,000 kilometers) between refills. The myABT app conveniently monitors the tank's fluid level, and owners can easily order more IWI fluid from ABT as needed.

Activating the IWI system is a straightforward process—simply place the RS6 or RS7 in the RS drive mode and hold down the button for one second, and the additional power becomes readily available.

In 2024, Audi introduced the RS6 Avant Performance and RS7 Performance models to the United States market. Both models feature a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 621 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. Accelerating from 0 to 60 miles per hour takes a mere 3.3 seconds. The standard top speed is set at 155 mph, while the limited-run Bronze Edition can reach an impressive 174 mph. These Performance models come with larger turbos, reduced sound insulation for a more engaging driving experience, a lighter mechanical self-locking center differential, and upgraded transmission control software. Prices start at $126,895 for the RS6 Avant Performance and $128,895 for the RS7 Performance sedan.
