One of the first 5e adventure expansion packs ever released, The Lost Mines of Phandelver has remained a fan favorite in the gaming world for the last decade. Now Dungeons & Dragons has released more information about its latest adventurous expansion. Phhandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk returns to the city of Phandalin as another threat is revealed just beneath the surface.
Written for a group of level 1-12 explorers, the adventure features even more Phandalin to explore, taking characters into the mysterious Underdark and the psionic creatures that reside there. The adventure contains many maps that make it easier to traverse updated dungeons. Every classic D&D monster has mutated, offering nightmarish new twists for players and dungeon masters alike to expect. "The corruption not only affects the characters and locations in the story, it's also part of the changes to the book's art and visual design," said Bree Heiss, art director of D&D Studio, in a post. "We wanted to offer players an immersive and thought-provoking experience that is as visually appealing as the compelling story.
In addition to posters for Phandalin and its associated dungeons, some of the new designer additions to Phadelver and Below: Shattered Obelisk include "a bestiary with over 20 new creatures with magical and psionic mutations. There is also a "Magical Expansion Pack" that includes new metamagic consumables and Duergar magic.
Phandelver and earlier: The Shattered Obelisk is only available digitally in D&D Beyond, as a physical book in local game stores, or as a digital/physical product set in D&D Beyond. Order here.
