Watching videos offline is a must. How to fix lagging YouTube videos on Chrome for Windows.

Do YouTube videos keep lagging in Chrome making it difficult to watch? Several reasons can be responsible for this; The network connection may be unstable, running programs or maps may be consuming memory resources, the video quality may be too high, the memory saver setting may be disabled, or the power saving mode may be enabled.
If you want Chrome to stop stuttering and lagging when playing YouTube videos, here are some fixes and checks worth trying.

1. Conduct your due diligence

Before moving on to the more complicated tricks, first try these quick and easy fixes:

Restart Chrome to fix temporary issues.
Clear cache and cookies in Chrome.
Disable any Chrome extensions that you think interfere with your browsing.
Disable VPN and remove all VPN extensions installed on Chrome.
Reset the flags in Chrome. To do this, visit Chrome://flags and click on on “Reset All”.
Update your Windows graphics drivers to allow your computer to process graphics more efficiently.
If the above fixes don't solve the problem and the lag persists, it's time to apply more complex fixes.

2. Free up RAM

Lack of RAM is the most common cause of excessive lag in YouTube videos. Therefore, the next step should be to close all memory consuming processes running on your device. Once approved, Chrome should play YouTube videos more smoothly. To do this, observe those steps: Open the Task Manager with CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
Click the RAM column to sort the processes with the most memory resources in descending order.
Filters out processes that consume the most resources but do not need them to continue running.
Right-click each of these processes and click End Task.
After freeing up RAM, try playing YouTube videos again.

3- Close resource intensive Chrome processes.

If freeing up memory doesn't reduce video latency, check for memory-intensive Chrome processes and temporarily close them. The Chrome task manager will assist you with this.

  Here are the following steps:

  Start Chrome.
Click on the three vertical dots in the upper right corner and go to More tools > activity manager.

Look at the processes that use the most memory, e.g. B. adapters, extensions and other processes.
Close any processes you do not want to continue or any memory-intensive extensions. To end a process, select it and click End Task.
Now try playing the videos again and see if there is any lag.

  4Change Chrome performance settings

Chrome has added two new features to improve browser performance: Memory Saver and Power Saver. When memory saver is enabled, it saves memory on inactive cards and allocates it to active cards. Enabling this feature will launch YouTube more efficiently in the active tab. On the opposite hand, the energy saving characteristic limits the video body fee whilst the tool is low on energy, that may adversely have an effect on video streaming. This is why it is so important to disable this feature. To extrade those settings, do the following: Click at the 3 vertical dots within the pinnacle proper nook and choose Settings.
Go to Performance in the left sidebar.
Turn off the switch next to Energy Saver and turn on the switch next to Memory Saver.
See if this reduces Chrome's RAM usage.

  5. Increase video quality

Watching high quality videos requires more memory than watching low quality videos. If you usually watch videos at 1080p or higher and constantly experience lag, consider downgrading to 720p or even lower.

To change video quality on YouTube, do the following:

Open the video you want to watch.
Click on the gear icon (Settings) in the lower right corner of the screen.
Click Quality and select a lower quality than the current one.
The video doesn't look good now, but it should play better.

  6. Check your Internet connection

If freeing up memory resources and reducing video quality also doesn't reduce latency, the problem may be lack of bandwidth. Either other devices connected to your Internet connection are using network resources, or your Internet connection is unstable for some other reason.

Therefore, disconnect other devices connected to the same network connection and check the stability of the Internet connection in Windows. If things don't feel right, learn how to fix WiFi problems in Windows. Alternatively, if you have a wired connection to your router, try repairing the Ethernet connection in Windows.

7- Enable hardware acceleration in Windows

. The hardware acceleration feature offloads the CPU and uses the dedicated GPU to power it. Since the graphics are processed by the GPU, the speed and frame rate increase, which can reduce lag when watching YouTube.

To enable hardware acceleration in Windows, do the following: Right-click the Windows start button and select Settings.
  Go to System > Post.
Go to Graphics and click the Change Default Graphics Settings button.
Enable hardware accelerated GPU scheduling here.
Now everything using your GPU should work better. On the other hand, if you notice that the situation is getting worse, turn this setting off.

  8Enable hardware acceleration in Chrome

. After enabling hardware acceleration in Windows, do the same in Chrome. To enable hardware acceleration in Chrome, do the following:

Start Chrome. Click the 3 vertical dots within the pinnacle proper nook and visit Settings.
Go to the System tab in the left sidebar.
Check the option next to Use hardware acceleration when available.

  9. Make positive chrome is as much as date.

Running an outdated version of Chrome can also slow down your browser. Updating the browser will fix existing bugs so it works better. Therefore, updating your browser to the latest version can also help improve performance and reduce lag. To make sure your browser is up to date, do the following: Start Chrome. Click at the 3 vertical dots within the higher proper corner.
Go to Instructions > About Google Chrome.
Google Chrome will check for updates and, if available, download and install them. Then click "Restart" to allow your browser to restart. If you see the "Chrome is up to date" message, your browser is already up to date.

  Watching YouTube Videos Again

The lag and stutters that come with watching YouTube videos can really ruin our experience. You should now have a better understanding of what causes YouTube videos to lag and stutter all the time, and what changes you can make to make them run smoother. If nothing works and the problem persists, reinstall your browser.
