Web-Swinging Enthusiasts Celebrate: Spider-Man 2 Offers Unprecedented Control Over Your Aerial Adventures

For those seeking absolute mastery over their web-swinging adventures, Spider-Man 2 has introduced some exciting features that empower you to seize full control of your aerial exploits.

Undoubtedly, one of the primary attractions of any Spider-Man game lies in the exhilarating art of web-swinging. What other gaming experience allows you to gracefully catapult across the sprawling canvas of New York City? Web-swinging aficionados come in various flavors: some prefer the experience to be more automatic, enabling them to effortlessly embody the iconic hero, while others yearn for a more challenging, authentic web-swinging experience. Luckily, Spider-Man 2 caters to both preferences with a dedicated Swing Assist option, giving you the reins to define your level of control.

In response to a Twitter query about Swing Steering Assist, James Stevenson, the community director at Insomniac, clarified that this setting isn't merely an accessibility feature but rather a tool that empowers players to customize their experience. He explained that the slider offers ten levels of Swing Assistance, with the default setting starting at Level 10—reflecting the previous games in the series. In essence, it's a feature that permits players to dial down the assistance, should they seek a more challenging web-swinging experience. According to Insomniac's accessibility features page, the higher values on this slider make web-swinging more manageable, whereas lower values reduce assistance, making physics and the dynamics of web-lines play a more significant role in your swinging technique.

Intriguingly, a recent revelation marks a departure from the previous two Spider-Man games: the upcoming sequel will introduce fall damage. This means that you can no longer freely plummet from great heights without facing consequences. While this feature can be toggled off, it introduces an extra layer of risk for those looking to elevate the challenge level of their web-swinging adventures.

Insomniac has also unveiled some insights into the new accessibility features in Spider-Man 2, along with plans for post-launch updates.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to launch on October 20, exclusively for the PS5.
