The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria for PS5 Experiences Minor Delay Ahead of Launch

In the ever-evolving world of gaming, sometimes even the most anticipated releases face unforeseen delays. Such is the case for The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria on the PlayStation 5. The co-op survival crafting RPG, which had been eagerly awaited, has encountered a slight setback, with its release date being pushed back to December 5, 2023, just days before its original launch date.

This updated PS5 version will now debut both digitally and in physical retail formats on the rescheduled date, as announced by developer Free Range Games and publisher North Beach Games. Meanwhile, the PC release, which is set to be an exclusive on the Epic Games Store, will proceed as planned on October 24. For Xbox Series X and S enthusiasts, there's good news too, as a version for these consoles is in the pipeline, with a planned release in early 2024.

The development team cited the need for additional time to "enhance various aspects" of the PS5 edition, and they extend their apologies to the fans for the inconvenience caused by this delay.

The Return to Moria game is a journey into the Fourth Age of J.R.R. Tolkien's renowned Middle-earth, set 70 years after the ring's destruction. Players will immerse themselves in the adventures of a group of dwarves led by Gimli Lockbearer, as they delve deep into the heart of Khazad-dûm, known as Moria.

This rendition of Return to Moria places a strong emphasis on crafting and exploration. It will support up to eight-player co-op on PC and launch with four-player co-op for PS5. An exciting feature of the game is the return of John Rhys-Davies, the original voice of Gimli in Peter Jackson's movie adaptations, reprising his iconic role as the son of Gloin.

For enthusiasts of Tolkien's work, the game offers the unique opportunity to recreate the Fellowship's memorable Walk Through Moria, an experience that takes over two hours to complete. Additionally, the developers have even created Tolkien's secret dwarven language to further immerse players in this rich and beloved fantasy world.
