The Arc A580 GPU, originally introduced last year, faced delays in its release due to Intel's challenges in the Alchemist lineup and its stiff competition against AMD and NVIDIA's latest entry-level graphics cards. However, for reasons not entirely clear, Intel has now granted approval to its board partners to bring this model to market.
Interestingly, the launch of the Arc A580 GPU won't involve numerous brands; only ASRock and Sparkle have shown interest in releasing this graphics card. ASRock, in particular, was so eager to introduce their version that they neglected to inform retailers about the embargo date for sales. While there have been no surprises in terms of specifications, Intel has not officially confirmed the availability date of this model, making the sale somewhat premature.
What's intriguing is that, despite no official announcement, the Arc A580 GPU is already supported by the latest GPU drivers, making it technically usable. The primary issue is that it's not widely available in stores yet. It appears that ASRock's card was put up for sale prematurely, and a well-known hardware leaker managed to obtain a sample. Although it remains unclear which retailer was responsible for the early sale, the leaker shared a screenshot of the card available at a Japanese retailer priced at 38,880 JPY.
This specific listing is from a Japanese store called Biccamera, and we can easily compare it to the price of ASRock's A750 Challenger in the same store. With the A750 Challenger priced at 55,440 JPY, we can deduce that the A580 is approximately 30% cheaper.
Furthermore, additional investigation has uncovered listings from Canadian and US retailers offering the card ahead of schedule with backorder options. In these regions, the card is currently listed at $209.96 USD or $274 CAD. The official ASRock store on Newegg US offers the A750 Challenger model at $219, while Newegg Canada has no such model listed, but the cheapest A750 is priced at $339.99 CAD. Therefore, the A850 still appears to be technically cheaper, although not as significantly as in Japan.
Reports indicate that A580 GPUs have already been sent to the press for review. Although the exact launch date remains uncertain, Intel seems to have been transparent, disclosing the full specifications, and pricing can be readily deduced from the existing A750 offers and early listings.
