Diablo 4 is set to undergo Steam Deck verification next week, coinciding with its launch on Steam and the commencement of Season 2.
Blizzard's latest installment in the Diablo series is already playable on Valve's handheld device, but it will soon achieve full Steam Deck verification. Adam Fletcher, Blizzard's Global Community Development Director, confirmed this exciting development via Twitter. "We are thrilled to announce that Diablo IV will attain Steam Deck Verified status as of next Tuesday, in conjunction with the game's debut on Steam and the inception of Season of Blood," shared Fletcher, known as 'PezRadar' on Twitter.
While Diablo 4 currently functions on the Steam Deck, this verification will ensure seamless integration. Once it is accessible on Steam, the game will provide comprehensive controller support, showcasing appropriate controller input icons and eliminating compatibility warnings. Additionally, Diablo 4 will be optimized for the Steam Deck's default resolutions of 1280x800 or 1280x720, complete with optimal default settings. This verification also signifies that Diablo 4 will be compatible with Proton, including anti-cheat support when running through Proton.
Diablo 4 is now accessible worldwide on PC and various gaming consoles. Starting on October 17, the game will be available on Steam, enabling fans to immerse themselves in the forthcoming Season of Blood. This new season centers around a vampiric theme and promises a fresh questline, an array of items, formidable endgame bosses, vampiric powers, and more. In our earlier launch review of Diablo 4, we expressed our enthusiasm: "Diablo IV marks a triumphant return for Blizzard, arriving at a time when it is most needed. The game delivers exhilarating hack-and-slash action combat, an enhanced skill system, and a wealth of engaging content. It boasts the best narrative in the franchise's history, and its impressive visuals and audio are complemented by smooth performance, barring the occasional traversal stutter."
