Street Fighter 6 Unveils Exciting Updates: Legend Rank, Enhanced Training Mode, and More!

Capcom's recent presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2023 offered exciting insights into the future of Street Fighter 6. While we didn't get a teaser for the game's upcoming DLC character, Ed, the renowned creators of this long-standing fighting game franchise did share some tantalizing information.

Street Fighter 6 is gearing up to introduce A.K.I., the game's second DLC fighter, into the playable roster next week. However, fans can anticipate a lot more to come shortly. Capcom has unveiled plans to include a new pinnacle rank in the game's online multiplayer mode, aptly named "Legend rank," along with a host of new features for the training mode.

Currently, Street Fighter 6's Master League, an online ranked league where Master-level players compete for coveted "MR" (Master Rate) points, is in phase 1. Based on the recent announcement, it seems the league's next phase is scheduled to kick off on November 1.

On that date, players will have the opportunity to strive for the highly sought-after Legend rank, a distinction reserved for the top 500 players on the leaderboards. It seems that reaching the Legend rank won't hinge on reaching a specific points threshold; instead, it will be awarded to the 500 players with the highest Master Rate.

Those who secure a place in the top 500 by the end of this phase will earn a special in-game title as a reward.

Furthermore, the game's training mode is set to receive significant enhancements to facilitate more effective practice. Capcom has mentioned that this mode will be "enriched with the addition of more detailed settings."

These improvements will encompass various aspects, including training mode shortcut settings, reversal settings, frame meter, recording settings, and more. While the exact release date for these training mode enhancements was not explicitly stated, it was hinted during the presentation that they would likely be included with the next DLC fighter update, featuring A.K.I.

Capcom also teased a forthcoming collaboration with Meiji, promising players special avatar items. Additionally, a Halloween Fighting Pass is slated for release in October, although specific details about these events are yet to be disclosed.

Concerning DLC characters, Capcom reiterated that after A.K.I., Street Fighter 6 will welcome Ed from Street Fighter 5 and the iconic legacy character Akuma. Ed is expected to make his debut in Winter 2024, while Akuma will join the roster in Spring 2024.

A.K.I., set for release on September 27, is a newcomer with a poisonous twist, serving as the apprentice of Street Fighter 5's F.A.N.G. Much like her master, she possesses the ability to afflict her opponents with poison, gradually sapping their health.

For a more in-depth look at A.K.I.'s gameplay in Street Fighter 6, Capcom has released an A.K.I. character breakdown, providing insights into all her moves, their functions, and their strategic applications in battle.
