Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff recently revealed to CNBC's Jim Cramer the growing involvement of Slack, the company's messaging platform, in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI). Benioff emphasized that Slack is evolving to incorporate its own AI capabilities, making it a vital resource for their customers due to the vast amount of data it holds.
In his words, "The big news is Slack is really starting to wake up with its own AI. It holds so much data for our customers. I think Slack is going to be the promise of AI for a lot of our most important customers."
Benioff further highlighted that prominent players in the AI sector, such as OpenAI, Cohere, and Anthropic, are aligning with Slack. He noted, "If you go talk to any of these great, new AI companies, they are all Slack-first companies; they all built their product with Slack."
This conversation between Cramer and Benioff took place during Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference in San Francisco, which heavily focuses on AI technology.
Salesforce, a component of Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust portfolio, experienced a 3% stock price increase following a successful Q2 earnings report in late August, which also led to heightened interest from activist investors.
Benioff emphasized that Slack is not just a communication tool but also a repository for essential data, positioning it to take an active role in data management.
Furthermore, the Salesforce CEO discussed the latest version of Einstein, the company's AI program designed to assist businesses with customer relationship management (CRM). He reassured that while Einstein learns from customer data, there is a robust "trust layer" in place to safeguard the privacy and security of this data.
In his closing remarks, Benioff highlighted the substantial scale of Einstein's AI operations, stating that it will handle a trillion transactions for customers in the current week, while reaffirming the commitment to preserving customer data privacy.
