| Exclusive Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale Attracts Mystery Australian Buyer: Limited-Edition Supercar's Enigmatic Allure |
An enigmatic Australian buyer has reportedly secured an exclusive Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, a supercar that offers both petrol and electric power options. It's important to note that this limited-edition masterpiece, of which only 33 units will be crafted worldwide, cannot legally traverse Australian roads as it is designed with a left-hand-drive configuration.
The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic 1967 33 Stradale, based on the Tipo 33 race car, has quickly gained a reputation as one of Alfa Romeo's most iconic models. All 33 units, meticulously handcrafted to ensure exclusivity, were sold out even before its official unveiling last month. Estimated to command a price exceeding AUD 3 million, as reported by international media outlets, these vehicles are poised to become coveted classics.
Underpinning the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale's exquisite design is a core carbon-fiber structure and a potent twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine. This supercar shares its DNA with the Maserati MC20, adding to its allure. Interestingly, prospective buyers also have the option to embrace electric power, elevating the model's appeal.
During an online conference call with Australian media, Daniel Guzzafame, Alfa Romeo's Global Head of Product, disclosed that an Australian collector had acquired one of these limited-edition marvels, though the purchase price remained undisclosed. There was also interest from enthusiasts in other right-hand-drive nations such as Japan and the UK.
When pressed for details about the identity of the enigmatic Australian buyer, Mr. Guzzafame maintained secrecy, stating, "No, we cannot, but thanks for asking."
While Australian transport tycoon Lindsay Fox is renowned for his extensive collection of rare exotic cars, it remains uncertain whether he is the mystery Alfa Romeo enthusiast in question.
Regarding pricing, Mr. Guzzafame stated, "We are not speaking about prices, but it's also because of the fact that each car is very unique, very customized." The cost of each vehicle varies based on the extent of personalization requested by the buyer.
Customers have the freedom to make customization requests, which are evaluated by a committee comprising the museum director and CEO. However, certain unconventional requests, such as a pink car, may not receive approval if they do not align with the brand's vision.
One of the key criteria in selecting customers was their willingness to showcase their Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale at car shows, making the vehicle accessible to a wider audience.
In terms of the choice between petrol and electric power, Mr. Guzzafame revealed, "For now, we are let's say 80/20: 80 per cent (petrol) and 20 per cent (electric)." Customers have approximately a year to make this decision, and an intriguing shift toward the electric version is evident.
Mr. Guzzafame further clarified that there is no difference in price between the petrol and electric versions, with both starting at the same base price. Production of the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale is slated to commence late next year, followed by the delivery of the first customer vehicles.
