Key Battlefield 5 Features for Battlefield 6: A Blueprint for Success

In recent developments, it has come to light that additional teams have joined forces with EA Entertainment to contribute to the development of the forthcoming installment in the Battlefield franchise. My personal connection with Battlefield dates back to the days of Battlefield: Modern Combat, and at one point, I even favored this series over the widely popular Call of Duty. To put it bluntly, Battlefield 3 remains a legendary title in my eyes.

Recently, I revisited Battlefield 5 and was pleasantly surprised by the thriving community still supporting this World War II-themed epic. This prompted me to ponder: which features from Battlefield 5 should be integrated into Battlefield 6, assuming the title or numbering is not confirmed yet? I've been a staunch supporter of Battlefield 5 (or V, for the well-informed), considering it one of the standout titles in the series.

So, what exactly does Battlefield 6 need to succeed? Here, I present a list of features and mechanics from Battlefield 5 that I believe would seamlessly fit into the next installment, keeping in mind that the title and details remain unconfirmed.

1. Battle Royale Mode

Let's address the elephant in the room right away: Battle Royale. While Firestorm, Battlefield 5's take on Battle Royale, didn't receive the attention it deserved upon its May 2019 release, it had the potential to shine. Unfortunately, it faced stiff competition from Apex Legends and, later, Call of Duty Warzone. Interestingly, Firestorm was developed by Criterion Games in collaboration with EA's DICE, and guess who's now involved in the development of the upcoming Battlefield game? Criterion Games. Could this be a hint at the return of a revamped Battle Royale mode?

2. Destruction Mechanics

Battlefield 5's destruction mechanics were a game-changer. From artillery strikes to missiles, bombs, tanks, and planes, players could reduce entire maps to rubble. Entire villages crumbled under the weight of devastating explosions, and the haunting sound of a V2 bomb whizzing overhead remains etched in players' memories. Unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 took a significant step back in terms of destruction, and it's time to recapture the glory of Battlefield 5 in this regard.

3. Construction Mechanics

Battlefield 5 introduced a subtle but engaging feature that allowed players to build defenses around objectives. This mechanic added depth to the gameplay and enabled players to employ strategic defenses around flags or buildings. With the potential for expansion, this feature could be a valuable addition to Battlefield 6, allowing players to craft well-fortified positions in a matter of minutes.

4. Multi-Dimensional Campaign

Battlefield 5 was the last entry in the series to feature a comprehensive campaign, offering a cinematic and emotionally charged narrative set against various theaters of war during World War II. When Battlefield 2042 arrived without a campaign, many fans felt a significant void in the game's core experience. A compelling single-player campaign could be a vital component in Battlefield 6 to keep players engaged.

5. Realistic Theatre of War

Battlefield 5 stood out for its gritty and realistic portrayal of World War II, with maps spanning Africa, France, Norway, and Japan. In contrast, Battlefield 2042 took a more futuristic approach with robot dogs, wing suits, zip-lines, and advanced technology. To ensure the success of Battlefield 6, it might be prudent to return to the franchise's roots in realism, whether that involves modern combat or revisiting historical conflicts.

6. Squads, Soldiers, and Platoons

Battlefield 5 excelled in promoting team-based play, allowing players to form Platoons and encouraging leadership roles within squads. Unlike Battlefield 2042's reliance on Specialists with unique abilities, Battlefield 5 emphasized community and teamwork. It's essential to reintegrate these elements into Battlefield 6 to cater to the dedicated Battlefield player base.

In summary, Battlefield 6 has the potential to be a monumental success by drawing inspiration from the best features of its predecessor, Battlefield 5. With the right blend of Battle Royale, destruction, construction, a compelling campaign, realistic warfare, and strong community engagement, it could mark a triumphant return to the series' roots.
