POGO users recently discovered an exploit that unlocks XL candies incredibly fast, with a bug in the route function. Essentially, the exploit works by removing the speed limit as the route progresses.
Some people immediately jumped at the ability to run Pokemon Go and other apps at night while they slept. One YouTuber who helped publicize the feat claimed to be making over 100 XL candies an hour.
But the file is ready. Apparently Niantic also discovered the project. Answer? Impose bans on those who have benefited.

Posting on the ThesliphRoad subreddit, user milotic03 noticed that some POGO fans got banned because of the XL Candy in Routes exploit.
Some have reportedly been suspended for 30 days, while others face bans of up to 230 days.Further violations could lead to permanent bans, a message from Niantic warns. The severity of the fine is likely related to the amount of XL Candy collected in attempts to exploit the vulnerability. Leaving the details aside, these claims prove once again that Niantic is not kind to players illegally hacking gaming systems.
Judging from the comments on the Reddit thread, few people feel harmed by those affected by the bans. Someone called the bans a "wonderful thing. Another person wrote: "Okay. I wish they would be more aggressive towards scammers.
Perhaps Niantic's response to the XL Candy exploit will be a lesson to Pokemon Go scammers in the future. As it turns out, the studio's previous anti-cheat methods only covered a limited area.
