Blizzard has unveiled the ages of the Overwatch 2 characters, but fans are grappling with inconsistencies that clash with the game's expanded lore.
The official ages of Overwatch 2 characters were disclosed by Blizzard, but some of these ages seem to contradict the meticulously crafted narrative of the hero shooter. Since its inception in 2016, Overwatch's lore has been skillfully fleshed out through supplementary materials such as books, comics, short stories, origin videos, and high-budget animated shorts.
Overwatch 2 has introduced PvE story missions to advance the narrative, offering players special co-op levels. While more PvE story missions are on the horizon, lore enthusiasts have traditionally obtained their insights through conventional sources. Recently, Blizzard updated the official Overwatch website, unveiling the ages of all in-game characters, a move that has left some devoted fans scratching their heads.
According to Blizzard's data, the oldest character in Overwatch 2 is the tank hero Sigma, aged 64, while the youngest is Orisa, another tank hero, who is just 1 year old, which aligns with her status as a recently constructed Omnic. However, confusion arises when supporting hero Kiriko is listed as 21, as official art depicted her training alongside Genji and Hanzo when they were children. Surprisingly, Genji's age is given as 37, and Hanzo's as 40.
