EA's CEO, Andrew Wilson, has hinted at exciting developments in the pipeline for Respawn Entertainment during his appearance at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference in 2023, as reported by Video Games Chronicle. Wilson lauded EA's acquisition of Respawn, describing it as "perhaps one of the most remarkable acquisitions ever made in the industry."

Speaking about EA's history of acquisitions, Wilson acknowledged that they had undertaken only "a few" such moves. He singled out the 2017 acquisition of Respawn for $455 million as potentially one of the industry's best. Wilson commended Respawn's ongoing success with Apex Legends and the Star Wars Jedi series.

He remarked, "They are an exceptional team that has generated immense value for us, our shareholders, and the global gaming communities engaged with Apex and the Jedi series. You should expect that there are other exciting initiatives underway at Respawn that we are eager about ", though we won't divulge details at this time. We're excited based on the caliber of that team."

Although Wilson didn't divulge specific details, Respawn is known to be working on several undisclosed projects. Among these is an unnamed Star Wars first-person shooter, a part of the extensive lineup of upcoming Star Wars games. Respawn is also collaborating with Bit Reactor on a Star Wars strategy game, and there have been discussions about creating a third installment in the Jedi game series, forming a trilogy.

Earlier this year, Respawn announced a project in development under the leadership of Titanfall director Steve Fukuda. In its nascent stages, this project involves a small "skunkworks" team focused on prototyping something entirely new for the studio.
